NableU for participants
Find NDIS support workers who fit
Find local NDIS support workers by location, availability, skills and communication style. Compare fit and choose who you want to approach.
How do I find NDIS support workers near me?
Start with where support is needed, the days and times that work for you, and what you want help with. Then compare experience, communication style, interests and availability. A nearby profile is a starting point; ask whether the worker can meet your particular needs before choosing.
NableU's NDIS marketplace brings worker discovery and participant-posted support requests together. You can look for independent support workers, explain your brief and speak directly with people you may want to work with. Local availability depends on the workers and requests currently visible to your account.
What should I ask before choosing a disability support worker?
- Can you provide the support I have described, at the place and times I need?
- What relevant experience, checks or qualifications can I review?
- How do you communicate, handle changes and respond when something is not working?
- What will the support cost, and what travel, cancellation or other terms apply?
- Can we discuss fit or arrange a meet-and-greet before making a decision?
A profile, matching suggestion or verification label cannot answer those questions for you. Your preferences and the worker's explicit response to your request both matter.
What participants can do
- Find workers using support needs, communication style, interests, location, availability and real compatibility.
- Compare clear trust, safeguarding and verification signals without having to inspect a provider's whole compliance file.
- Create participant-owned support requests and review answers to the actual brief.
- Keep sessions, messages, support relationships and concerns in predictable places.
- Use My Manual for private, participant-authored self-knowledge and choose exactly what is shared.
- Keep employment and career opportunities separate from requests for disability support.
How the experience should feel
The participant workspace starts with a compact, configurable Dashboard. You can choose which role-appropriate widgets appear, reorder them and set the page you want to see first. Lists keep their sort and filter choices. Clear status text explains what happened, what remains private and what the next action is.
Attention offers page-aware cognitive support without taking over the screen. Settings support system light or dark mode, high contrast, keyboard use and reduced visual load. Important work can be saved and resumed rather than forcing completion in one sitting.
Choice, privacy and safety
The participant remains the decision-maker. Support coordinators can see or act only within named areas approved by the participant, and that access can expire. Private messages, My Manual fields, notes and billing are not automatically shared. Workers below a participant-specific safeguarding threshold may be withheld instead of asking the participant to assess avoidable risk.
A typical flow
- Set contact, access and support preferences.
- Browse suitable workers or publish a support request.
- Compare fit and evidence, then message or arrange a meet-and-greet.
- Choose the worker, agree the separate Service Agreement and confirm each support session.
- Review the relationship, raise a concern or change permissions when needed.
How can I brief a new support worker?
A useful NDIS participant profile explains what helps you communicate, make choices and feel comfortable during support. You might include preferred language, routines, sensory preferences, interests, what to do when plans change and what you want to keep private. Include only what is useful for that worker and task.
My Manual gives you a place for participant-authored self-knowledge. Sharing is a separate choice: a relationship or coordinator role does not automatically open your private My Manual information. Review what you share as your needs change.
Choosing and changing support
You can compare workers, ask further questions, review the relationship and change permissions when your needs change. See how support workers respond to participant requests or open NableU to explore support. NableU does not decide your NDIS funding or whether a particular support can be paid from your plan.
Does NableU charge platform fees?
NableU currently has no platform fees or subscriptions. We aim to keep access free for as many people as possible for as long as possible. Support workers still charge for their work, and the support rate and terms must be agreed separately. This is our current position, not a promise that pricing will never change.

Current stage
NableU is available as an early release before version 1.0. Participant-led matching, support relationships, agreements and session planning are implemented, alongside foundations for Community and private career planning. Availability depends on your account, permissions and the current release; some capabilities remain in testing or planned. NableU does not process support payments or submit NDIA claims. Real-user accessibility, safety and operational testing remain ongoing.
